Basketball Camp Director

Derek Brown –  Derek has over 30 years’ experience in basketball as a player, coach and trainer. He has played professionally in Puerto Rico, coached AAU travel teams, high school and college; trained at every level, including college, overseas, the D-League and NBA players. Some of the players include:

Professional Players:
Devon George – Los Angeles Lakers
Ryan Hollins – Boston Celtics
Joaquin Hawkins – Houston Rockets
Kareem Rush – Golden State Warriors
Stephan Gilling – D League

Division One:
DJ Brown
Joe Frasier
Chris Cunningham
Gary Franklin
Keala King

Derek’s use of mental techniques causes him to stand out from traditional basketball trainers. Most players and trainers work solely on muscle memory. Coach Brown has done extensive research, study and application of mental memory, he has come to the conclusion that in addition to muscle memory, mental memory (imagination and visualization) must be used to perform at an optimum level. Coach Brown was able to take a college player from scoring 6 points a game, with a season high of 11 points, to a freshman single scoring record of 33 points: (9 -11) FG, (6-7) 3PT, (9-10) FT. Only 2 days prior to achieving this record, the player began utilizing the mental memory of visualization. Coach Brown has the ability to break down the fundamentals, so youth players can understand and apply. For the elite players Coach Brown has advanced physical and mental techniques to take them to their optimum level.
